About Cusumano

The wines come from 140 hectares of vineyards located in several areas of Sicily: Partinico, Monreale, Alcamo, Contessa Entellina, Salemi, Marzara del Vallo, Riesi, and Pachino. Through their deep understanding of the Sicilian soil, Cusumano chooses the characteristics best suited for each wine be it soil, the altitude and the microclimate. The Gambero Rosso Italian Wine Guide 2003 called Cusumano "the real gems of the new Sicilian wine scene." Cusumano were also nominated for Best Italian Producer of the year at the prestigious International wine and spirits competition.

"We look after our vines with great care and attention, according to natural rhythms and without any forcing - says Diego Cusumano Thanks to our profound knowledge of the Sicilian wine producing areas, we have been able to identify the best vineyards for the different types of grape. Together with our staff, we share a production philosophy that centres on commitment and dedication when growing vines and particularly on a great respect for nature.

Producing a good wine means transforming grapes of a great quality into a wine with definite personality and pleasantness.

Oenological Knowledge and technology change in order to adapt to the grapes, so that their varied and organoleptic characteristics can be fully extolled".

The Cusumano wine producing business took shape forty years ago, thanks to Francesco Cusumano. "My father - declares Diego - sensed the evolution and innovations to come in this sector and made changes" in the vineyard. He favoured the best quality Sicilian grapes he also planted some international varieties of vine, such as the famous syrah, cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay".

My brother Alberto and I entered the Company in 1995. Our common aim was to create a new company which could produce wines that respected their territory of provenance, wines from Sicily. Now we consider ourselves satisfied with the results obtained, and our wines are in demand on both the domestic market and the international market. The rule we follow is simple: always do the best we can".
